Mobberley CC Women's XI Mean Business

There are good cricket teams, there are great cricket teams, and then there’s the Mobberley Women’s side – a group of women quietly (and sometimes not so quietly) taking over both the outdoor and indoor game, one match at a time.

After a brilliant outdoor season, we’ve moved straight into the indoor league and picked up exactly where we left off. This winter isn’t just about keeping our eye in – it’s our warm-up for an even bigger, better summer. And the way things are going, it’s a very loud warning to anyone we’ll meet next season.

The scores tell you everything about how hard this team has worked and how far we’ve come together. We started indoors with 336/6 against Old Glossop (273/8), followed it up with 325/4 against Dinting (270/8), then 350/3 versus New Mills Blue (295/9), and 297/8 against Hawk Green (254/7). Match after match, the runs keep flowing, the bowling keeps tightening the screws, and the fielding just doesn’t let up. It’s not luck. It’s women putting the hours in, backing each other, and playing with real belief.

Indoor cricket is fast, noisy and full-on, but that’s exactly what makes it brilliant. You’re involved all the time. You don’t have to be “perfect” to enjoy it – you just need to show up, have a go, and be willing to learn. That’s what this squad is built on: progress, not perfection. Every week you can see the strides we’re making, as individuals and as a team. More confidence. Smarter decisions. Bigger scores. And a lot of laughter along the way.

Next up is Romiley – the team who pipped us to 1st place in the last indoor league when we finished runners-up. There’s definitely a bit of unfinished business there, but it’s exactly the kind of challenge we love. They’re big fans of what we’re doing at Mobberley too, so it’ll be fast, competitive and played with loads of mutual respect – the sort of game you want to be part of as a player.

We’ll be taking a team photo this weekend to share with everyone following our journey, because this isn’t just a list of scores – it’s a group of women of all backgrounds, ages and experience levels, achieving something together.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “I’d love to try that,” or “I used to play and I miss it,” or even, “I’ve never picked up a bat but it looks fun” – you are exactly who we’d love to hear from. You don’t need to be an expert, you just need to be willing to give it a go.

Mobberley Women’s cricket is growing, improving and having a lot of fun doing it. We are always looking for new players who want to be part of this journey – come and join us.
