MCC Golf day is back!

MCC Golf day is back!

Ben Kaberry28 Jun - 12:00

Join us on friday 15th August at Heyrose golf club, 12pm start.

Afternoon everyone.

Right. Now that we’ve all finally dragged ourselves off the sofa after the utter carnage of the beer festival (honestly, I’m surprised some of you can still walk), it’s time to talk about something with a little less hangover and a little more swing.

The Mobberley Cricket Club Golf Day is roaring back into action, and this year, we’re heading to Heyrose Golf Club on Friday 15th August 2025. Yes, that’s right, a day devoted to whacking a tiny ball around a field, shouting at it, and pretending we’re all professional golfers. Glorious.

Here’s how it works:

  • 12 o’clock shotgun start. That means everyone tees off at once, so no hiding at the back.
  • The bar opens at 11:00am. Bacon butties and brews on hand, because no one should face the first hole sober or hungry.
  • Warm up your swing on the driving range or putting green. Or just stand there looking menacing in your finest golf clobber.

The challenge:

  • Best 2 stableford scores per hole from each team. Translation: you’ll need at least one half-decent player.
  • Prizes for the longest drive and nearest the pin—time to show off, or at least try.
  • Buggies available if you can’t be bothered to walk. I fully endorse this.

The price of admission to this orgy of sporting brilliance:

  • £60 per golfer (£240 per team, buggies extra if you want to cruise like the Stig)
  • £30 per golfer if you’re a Heyrose GC member (smug mode activated)

Want in? Of course you do. Text or WhatsApp 07718 132 174 to secure your team’s spot. Only 20 teams allowed—first come, first served, and trust me, these go quicker than a cover drive through extra cover.

So, dust off your clubs, bring your best banter, and let’s make this another day to remember. Or, in some cases, forget.

Thanks for supporting the finest cricket club in Mobberley.

Will Edwards
