Mobberley Cricket Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Nathan Wood as the club’s new Head of Senior Cricket, a key role that will play a central part in an exciting new chapter as the club approaches its 150th Anniversary year.
A former Lancashire cricketer and previously the ECB’s Head of Coach Development, Nathan has been associated with Mobberley for almost two decades — first representing the club in 2005, captaining the 1st XI over two separate terms, and later helping secure Mobberley’s first and only 1st XI league title in 2014.
The Head of Senior Cricket role has been created to strengthen the club’s player pathway, elevate coaching standards across all teams, and support Mobberley’s long-term ambition of becoming the number one club in Cheshire for player development. Working in partnership with Cricket Mind Online, Nathan will oversee a fully integrated coaching programme designed to benefit juniors, seniors, and women’s cricket at every level.

Nathan’s vision for the role is clear:
“Mobberley has always been a great club, but it hasn’t always fulfilled its potential on the pitch. By creating an aligned pathway from juniors into senior cricket, we’ll build a sustainable future that gives our players every opportunity to reach their potential. I want us to be known as the number one destination in Cheshire for player development — and I’m confident we can achieve that sooner than people may think.”
