Mobberley turned up to a damp wet evening with a musty smell in the air , only to discover this was in fact Rick Forrest's wool jumper that had been passed down 4 generations!!
Mobberley won the toss and chose to allow Ashton to bat first. (first small win of the season)
James Wheeldon was swinging it from all over the place knowing he had to perform with other bowlers waiting in the wings ! Mo Ali supporting him charging in from 30 yards , we haven't seen pace like it until he ran off when he was asked for Match subs.
Ashton got off to a good start but was pegged back by the debutant Carl Bell, who was steaming in and bowling 10 yards from the bowling crease ( we will work on this ) after a number of shaky deliveries he got a waft of the Class C drugs from the driving range and this sorted him right out !!
Rick Forrest was given a over after the chat of playing for Blackburn U6's, the lad tried but was unfortunately weighed down by the weight of his jumper ( he is back to the nets )
Josh Northover ... who hasn't had the same pre season as John Bentley who is now currently a Speedo model after I quote ' I have been hitting some weights Barnsey " Bowled well and certainly had a tinge of red to his face after a 4 over stint.
Aston achieved 146 !!
Up stepped the current player of the year Will Blackburn ( won't be getting it this year) Will archived a quick fire 30 with a great strike rate accompanied by Mo who was dashing between the wickets like a gazelle until Bailo gave him out LBW.
Bentley and Bell produced a 20/20 master class both scoring quickly , then up stepped the Blackburn dream Dan Weadden !! Smashing it to all parts.
Great win Gents !!
