On beautiful evening in Mobberley, Mobberley made a number of forced changes to the match day squad , with Sultan and Zach ( Dingle ) making their 2024 debut !!
Mobberley won the Toss ( again ) and decided to chase.
Carl and Sultan kept the openers quiet before Chris Blake entered the attack. Bailo bowled with pace and enthusiasm for the first 4 balls then his fitness started to show. It can only be described as a water hog charging in with grunts and moans, much to the amusement of the spectators.
Mobberley kept Bowdon to 143.
After a pep talk Mobberley started the chase of well with Sultan thrashing it to all parts of the ground retiring for his 30. Carl was then called upon to bat. Striking a 4 of the first ball only to apologise to the opponents. Carl decided to give Bowdon a bit of catching practise. ( they need more practice)
Bailo decided enough was enough and decided to give out his Ben Karberry LBW, he wanted to make a game of it.
Carl then ran out the reigning (11 year) over 40 s player of the year Will blackburn in order to reduce his average and then Rick Forrest entered the crease. Rick thought he was playing a 5 day test match , failing to beat the in field , and would eventually perish for 12 ( this being because he lost his string on his glasses.
Up stepped Dan Weadon !! Flashing it to all parts of the ground but unfortunately when the time came to get his first ever 30 he bottled it!!A great win and a few beers after listening to every shot that Dan played. I have informed Dan that when he bats next week I will make sure Bailo is umpiring.
